What is Differentiation?

Differentiated instruction and assessment, also known as differentiated learning, is a teaching philosophy that considers differences among learners and provides personalized instruction, considering students' culture, socioeconomic status, language, gender, motivation, ability, and interests. Differentiation within the classroom provides opportunities for all students to be successful regardless of their readiness levels, interests or learning profiles. In a differentiated classroom, student expectations, requirements, tasks, and assessments are based on individual needs and abilities.
